What makes us different?
There is lots of encouragement on social media to stand out from the crowd, be unique, different, and authentic, while not conforming to societal expectations. Other advice is that we shouldn’t stand out too much. WTH? Who do we believe?
The truth is that it doesn’t matter. There will always be someone who has a different opinion or take on life and will judge us on how we fit into their interpretation of what life should look like. And while you and I carry on trying to fit into what everyone else wants, we lose a little more of ourselves. This usually results in us waking up in the morning and not recognising that reflection coming from the mirror. It’s a sure sign that we’ve absorbed everyone’s opinions and advice and the woven cloth of their judgement doesn’t fit us very well. Read More…
Dejavu!
I’ve been tidying up around the house lately – you know Christmas is finished and all that extra stuff needs to find a home and decorations need to be packed away!!
Some boxes from when I moved a year ago are still needing attention and there are more boxes than house space to fill! So it’s really not a straightforward job, I need time to think about what I am giving away or gifting to others. But that’s not what this blog is about. It’s about the treasure that I found as I opened a box that I packed up over a year ago…Read More…
Creative Spaces
I am a firm believer that if a person loves to create, they need a space of their own to do this. I'm not talking about taking over the spare room in the family home, (although it's a good place to start while you're waiting...) what I am talking about is that space where the 'crazy creative' can walk away without having to repack and tidy up at the end of each time they make something. Without a set space a person who longs to create can become inwardly focused and miss opportunities to Read more...
The Courage To Be Creative
In a world where people seem trapped in ever decreasing circles of non-productive insight, I'm here to reassure you that it's not contagious or compulsory. You have the choice to break out and join the creative revolution of 2018 and beyond...
As humans, we are coming to a period of time where we can choose 'life' with renewed energy and purpose. And not a moment too soon. Everywhere we look there are people hugely disconnected from their true selves. From the education system to the work environment, from packed lunches to packaged internet connections, bus lanes, cycleways, and motorways and takeaways, life is boxed Read more...
We is the new 'I' - Creative Collaborations
Although much of my hands-on creative work is solitary, I could not achieve what I do without a whole collective of people, organisations, and businesses. And, to acknowledge these people and their businesses shouldn't be seen as a weakness or wanting to give them free advertising, but more of an opportunity to say thanks for the work and effort they put into their own small businesses to supply me with what I need to run mine. From paper to feathers, to wool, silk, dyes or recycled materials, there are people out in the world who save me a lot of work sourcing, cleaning, carding, sorting and packaging these items so they are stored properly and safely until I use them. So thanks to all you out there who Read more...
Overcoming The Fear Of Being Creative
We all have doubts and worry about what other people might say about what we do. The same applies to any form of artistic or creative thought and practical processes. Do I care? Not any more…
The fears of being creative aare something we hold onto and it prevents us from feeling and being who we truly are destined to be. Amazing, wonderful, kind, eccentric, unique individuals who love to breathe new life into ‘stuff’! Creative people are real. They are healers in their own way because when we invite people to share our passion, we form relationships around common experiences, we relate to their original works of art, and we connect on a deeper level that says, you are not alone.
